Park It!

Well folks, the sun is finally here. Now that we can officially embrace the idea of spring, let’s get out and go to the park. Your pet will love the extra time outside. Before you go, keep a few things in mind.

Scout it out

Before taking your dog to a new park, visit it yourself first. Try to go at the same day and time you would bring your pet so you can get an idea of how many people and pooches will be there.

Move it

Use your time at the park to give your dog some great exercise. As long as your furry friend is in good health, take the opportunity to walk, run, and play. Get those winter wiggles out!

Play nice

Hopefully, you got a pretty good idea of what to expect from your local park on your scout visit, but keep a keen eye out for potential problem pets. You want to make sure your little guy has a good time, but keep him safe from potentially aggressive animals.

Pick up your, um, stuff

Remember your plastic bag. You don’t want to find yourself in THAT position, when you see the mess but have nothing to pick it up with. Do yourself (and everyone else) a favor, and keep bags on hand.

Park the treats at home

Rewarding your pet is great. But being the person handing out treats to everyone else’s pet is not the role you want. Besides, the wonderful time you and your dog have at the park is reward itself.

Visit your vet

Before going to the park, make sure your dog is fully up to date on vaccinations. A full annual checkup is also advisable, so your veterinarian can help you be sure your park buddy is ready to run.

Last, but not least, have a great time!
