It’s that time of year again. As we enter a New Year, we get to set goals for ourselves. It’s a great opportunity to learn new things and try to improve ourselves and our lives. It is also a wonderful time to step back and take a look at what is most important to us. Like our pets! While you are in that resolution mindset, take a few moments to think about goals for yourself and your pet. Here are a few ideas.
Try new activities
We all get stuck in routines, which over time can become ruts. Break out of your pet rut and try new pet-friendly activities. Learn new tricks, check out the new dog park, and have fun.
Set aside more time for play
Speaking of having fun, make more time in 2018 for playing with your pet. Your pet will love the added attention, and you will benefit from lower stress levels and greater appreciation for your furry friend.
Get in the groove of grooming
In addition to playing with your pet every day, take time for grooming. By doing a little each day, you save yourself and your pet from nasty tangles and overdue baths. Grooming is also a good opportunity to check your pet for any potential health issues. Be sure to include oral health in your daily grooming routine.
Keep those diet goals
Diet goals aren’t just for humans. In the New Year, set a goal to give your pet the right diet. To be consistent, measure the portions you give. If you need advice, feel free to contact your veterinarian.
Speaking of which…
While you are on the phone with your vet getting dietary advice, use the opportunity to schedule your pet’s annual checkup. It is important to get your pet to the veterinarian every year for a checkup.
Enjoy the New Year with your pet, and good luck with those resolutions!
